A Mile A Day Keeps The Doctor Away

Training CAPTAIN CYMRU

We've spoken to many of our Mile A Day Challengers over the past 5 years to bring you the ultimate Top 10 Tips for this years November Challenge...…..

1) Run/Walk With Company - Although 1 mile doesn't seem a long way, it can be slightly daunting on a cold and wet November evening especially after a long day in work. Encourage your friends and family to sign up or bring your four legged friend. It's much more fun with company.

2) Be Prepared - Hats, gloves, wet weather gear, water and a torch. Ensure you have a back pack ready to go so you don't get caught out. Make sure your kit is ready the night before!

3) Change Routes - The same route will be un-inspiring and you can get disheartened. Have several, pre-planned routes at your disposal. If your stuck, check out our favourite routes (www.) or use Map My Run to create your own.

4) Time - Aim to try and complete your mile at the same time every day so it becomes part of your natural routine. Remember this is not a race. Your pace is the right pace!

5) Fuel - Try and complete each mile before breakfast or dinner. It's a proven that people become very lethargic following a large meal so build up a hunger and treat yourself AFTER your mile.

6) The Folly Farm 1 Mile Challenge - Held on the middle weekend of the challenge this is a great opportunity to meet up with other challengers to conquer the unique FF Course. This is a great social opportunity to boost morale for the second half of the Challenge.

7) Communicate - Use the social channels to communicate with other Challengers. It's always great to see how others are doing, share tips and experiences and reinforce the amazing work you are doing.

8) Fundraise - A £ a day goes a long way! Keep pestering your friends and family for some financial support. These Welsh based charities need your help, especially after a tough year of no events, and there is no better feeling than presenting your hard earned pounds on the final day.

9) Track Your Challenge - Use an app like Strava to track your mile each day. Past challengers have said how much they love looking back and reminiscing. It's also great bragging rights amongst friends and family.

10) The Last Day - The cumulation of all your blood, sweat and tears, the last day is a must. Join hundreds of the other challengers and finish in style. Choose your mileage from 8/4/2/1 and The Beast athletes will pick you up on their final stretch, meaning everyone finishes together! Sprint down the finish line and collect your exclusive November Challenge medal. There's no better feeling surrounded by your loved ones. Who knows, this could be the start of a very special journey (did someone say The Wales 5k?)...…….

Entry to the November Challenge costs just £5.00. Raise £25.00 and receive the coveted NC medal.
